Teeth Whitening

At Dr. Joseph S. Dallessandro, D.D.S., located in New York, NY., our staff is dedicated to helping you achieve the smile you deserve. Teeth whitening is an in-office procedure that can whiten your smile for up to a year. It is an affordable and painless process. If you want to achieve the appearance you’ve always hoped for, schedule an appointment with Dr. Joseph S. Dallessadnro, D.D.S. or Dr. Jiah Choi, D.D.S.

There is a multitude of reasons that can cause teeth discoloration. What you eat is a major factor. Foods high in tannic acid, like grapes and tea, are common culprits. Coffee and cigarettes are another, with improper dental maintenance as well. Many patients find that cutting back on certain foods, or coffee and cigarettes, improves the whiteness of their smile. For some patients, this is simply not enough. If this is the case, then teeth whitening is the best solution.

At our practice, we utilize what is referred to as a tray whitening system. The teeth whitening takes two appointments to complete. At your first appointment, Dr. Dallessandro or Dr. Choi will walk you through the process. Together, you can pick a plan that works best for you. From there, an impression of your teeth will be made. This impression will be used to create your custom whitening trays. At your second appointment, the whitening trays will be fitted to make sure they are comfortable. If there aren’t any problems, you’ll receive the whitening trays to take home with you. Depending on the decided whitening plan, you will either insert the whitening gel into the tray and wear it twice a day or wear it overnight. This will continue for a few weeks to up to a month. Afterward, you will experience a smile that is 4-8 shades whiter!

Teeth Whitening

Dr. Joseph S. Dallessandro knows that his patients always want to present their brightest and whitest smile.  Many ask the doctor and his staff about over the counter products, and have tried them with underwhelming results.  Instead of winging it with retail products, come see us for a consultation and get your own custom whitening system!

During a consultation, your dentist will examine the level of staining on your teeth and be able to tell you what kind of results you can expect from the whitening system. To whiten your teeth at home, you will be fit with custom whitening trays made from molds of your teeth.  For a treatment, apply the whitening gel directly onto the trays and fit them over your teeth.  Your dentist will advise how often you should treat at home and how long each treatment can last.  Following dentist’s instructions, patients have seen this system whiten their smiles 4-8 shades!

Extrinsic Stains

Take a look at your teeth. Are you satisfied with their shade of color? Tooth discoloration develops from the food and beverages we consume, especially coffee, wine and cola. Smoking also causes discoloration because tobacco will turn the teeth yellow. These types of stains are usually extrinsic, which means they form on the outer layer of teeth. Regardless of the cause, Dr. Joseph S Dallessandro, DDS is here to revive the brightness in your smile.

Extrinsic staining is easier to remove than stains that develop inside the teeth. Extrinsic stains can range from white streaks, to yellow tints, or brown spots. To prevent extrinsic staining, you should be brushing your teeth after every meal. Dr. Dallessandro recommends using a mouth rinse or rinsing with water after having wine, coffee, or other foods that stain your teeth. Teeth whitening or bleaching is an excellent way to reverse this type of discoloration. Talk to Dr. Joseph S Dallessandro, DDS about your whitening options, today.
